Stockbridge sits on the River Test, a few miles south-east of Andover, and it's an area we know well - a mix of period high-street properties, riverside gardens, and the country estates and smallholdings that spread out into the surrounding Test Valley countryside. That variety suits us: the same visit might take in a bespoke garden gate for a cottage on the high street and estate fencing for a farm a mile down the road.
